The reason why I want to make Preemie hats and why I love to loom knitting

When I was a baby, I was just a preemie myself weighing just One pound and 13oz. The doctors thought I was going to die and pretty much gave up on me but what they didn't know was how Great my GOD is. With the prayers of family, friends, and the church, I lived and thanks to God for letting me be alive today to tell this story.

I'm 28 years old now, married with 2 beautiful girls ages 4 and 2. Well, that brings me to why I want to make the preemie hats for other little preemie babies. I know how small I was and how small my first born was. She weighed 4lbs 1oz at birth. I want to be able to make a difference for other preemie's and their families. I know how hard it is to watch a preemie go through a fighting battle. I expirenced it with my daughter.

It brings me to my passion for loom knitting. I have tried crochet and just couldn't get the hang of it. I started making a scarf as my first project and just kept getting confused on where I left off at and what stitch I was on next. My mother-in-law then bought me the long loom set for Christmas about 2 years ago and I made my first scarf on a loom and then started making hats.

Then I made my first baby blanket too. I then bought the round loom set as well. I'm not good with all the fancy stitches but I love to try and learn new things. At this very moment, I'm working on the ten stitch blanket for my mom for Christmas. Loom Knitting is my passion and I love every minute of it. It helps me to be stress free when I've had a hetic day.

Hello Ashley,

Thank you so much for sharing your story. Wow you have lived it and so willing to help others.

I don't know if you know about the charity group All Crafts for Charities, but there are many people that work together to help not only preemies but the needy.

Glad you found a craft that works for you.
