Knitted Headband and Shoes

A cute knitted headband and a pair of shoes pattern for dolls 12” to 22”

Doll Clothes Pattern #7160

Fits Dolls 12 – 14, (15 – 18), and (19 - 22) Inches Tall

Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows = 10 cms [4 ins] over st st using larger needles.

Materials needed: Pair needles each size 3 ¼ mm (UK 1O — USA 3) and 4 mm (UK 8 — USA 6) Yarn is sports weight.

Abbreviations:

Alt = alternate; beg = beginning; cms = centimetres; cont = continue(ing); foll = following; g st = garter st (every row knit); inc = increase; ins = inches; k = knit; p = purl; patt = pattern; psso = pass slipped stitch over; rem = remain(ing); rep = repeat; sl = slip; st(s) = stitch(es); st st = stocking stitch (1 row k, 1 row p); tog = together; yf = yarn forward; 0 = no sts, rows or times in that particular size; M1 = make a st by picking up horizontal loop lying before next st and working into back of it.

It is essential to obtain correct tension in yarn used and a small test piece should be worked. If piece measures more than required width, try again using smaller needles. If piece measures less than required width, try again using larger needles.

Notes

Figures in round brackets refer to the larger sizes. Figures or instructions in square brackets, [ ], should be repeated after the brackets.


Bow for Knitted Headband

Using 4mm needles cast on 6(8-10) sts and work in g st until Bow measures 6(7-8) cms. Cast off.

Centre Piece

Using 4mm needles cast on 4 sts and work in g st until centre piece fits around bow. Cast off.

Band

Using 4mm needles cast on 5(5-7) sts and work in g st until band fits around doll's head when slightly stretched. Cast off.

To Finish

Sew the 2 ends of the centre piece together around bow. Thread the band through the back of the centre piece and sew the 2 ends together.

Shoes Sole

Using 3 1/4 mm needles cast on 4(4-5) sts for heel and knit 1 row.  Working in g st, inc 1 st at each end  of next and foll 1(2-3) alt rows. 8(10-13) sts. Work 13(17-19) rows straight. Dec 1 st at each end of next 2(3-4) rows. Cast off rem 4(4-5) sts.

Shoe Top

Using 3 1/4mm needles cast on 32(40-48) sts.

1st row (wrong side): Knit.

Starting knit, work 2(4-6) rows in st st.

Shape Top

1st row: K8(10-12), [k2tog] 8(10-12) times, k8(10-12). 24(30-36) sts.

2nd row: Purl.

3rd row: K8(10-12), [k2tog] 4(5-6) times, k8(10-12). 20(25-30) sts.

Purl 1 row.

Work 3 rows in g st.

Cast off knitways.

To Finish

Join back seam of shoe top. Sew sole to shoe top, stretching sole evenly to fit. If required, embroider flowers on top of shoe as illustrated.
