This is one of our free Bond knitting machine patterns that can be made up on any standard gauge knitting machine. Just make sure your gauge or tension matches the pattern.
MACHINES: These instructions are written for Bond machines with extension kit for top three sizes
YARN: Spectrum Detroit DK FIBRE CONTENT: 100% Acrylic COLOUR: We used Honey Shade 414 (MC) and Flame Shade 408 (C)
To suit bust 86[91:97:102: 107:112]cm.
Finished measurement 96[102:106:120:124]cm. Length 64.5[65.5:66:67:67.5: 68.5]cm.
Sleeve seam 49.5cm.
Figures in square brackets [ ] refer to larger sizes; where there is only one set of figures, this applies to all sizes.
Spectrum Detroit DK.
3[3:3:3:3:4] x 100g balls in MC.
2[2:2:2:2:3] x 100g balls in C.
1 pair 3 1/4 mm knitting needles.
GARMENT WEIGHS 440g for size 107cm.
18 sts and 26 rows to 10cm measured over slip st patt using keyplate 3. Tension must be matched exactly before starting garment.
Knit side is used as right side. An extension kit is required for sizes 102, 107 and 112 cm. All ribs are knitted by hand. Measurements given are those of finished garment and should not be used to measure work on the machine.
SLIP STITCH PATTERN AND COLOUR SEQUENCE Counting from right edge, push 5th and every foil 6th N to HP all along row.
Using C, K2 rows.
Return Ns from HP to WP. Counting from right edge, push every 6th N to HP all along row. Using MC, K2 rows.
Return Ns from HP to WP. These 4 rows form patt and colour sequence and are rep throughout.
* Push 88[92:96:102:108: 112] Ns to WP. Using open
edge method and WY, cast on and K7 rows ending with carriage at right. Counting from right edge, push every 6th N to HP. Using MC and keyplate 3, K2 rows. Return Ns from HP to WP. Now cont in slip st patt and colour sequence given until 92 rows have been worked.
Keeping patt correct, cast off 6 sts at beg of next 2 rows *. Work 48[50:52:56:58:62] more rows.
Cast off 22[23:24:26:28:29] sts at beg of next 2 rows. Using WY, K rem 32[34:36:38:40: 42] sts and release from machine.
Work as given for back from * to *.
Work 34[36:38:42:44:48] more rows.
Push 44[47:50:54:58:61] Ns at left to HP. Cont on rem sts at right for first side.
Keeping patt correct, K1 row. Cast off 2 sts at beg of next and every foil alt row, 5 times in all. K4 rows. Cast off rem 22[23:24:26:28:29] sts.
Bring Ns at left back to WP. Using WY, K centre 12[14:16: 18:20:22] sts and release from machine. Cont on rem 32[33:34:36:38:39] sts at left. Complete to correspond with first side, reversing shaping.
Push 50[50:52:54:54:58] Ns to WP. Using open edge method and WY, cast on and K7 rows ending with carriage at right. Counting from right edge, push every 6th N to HP. Using MC and keyplate 3, K2 rows. Return Ns from HP to WP. Now cont in slip st patt and colour sequence as given. K2 rows.

Rep from ** to **, 10[11:12: 12:13:13] times more. 72[74:78:80:82:86] sts. 70[76: 82:82:88:88] rows worked. Work 34[28:22:22:16:16] more rows. 104 rows worked. Inc 1 st at each end of next 4 rows. 80[82:86:88:90:94] sts. Place a marker at each end of last row. K8 more rows.
SHAPE SHOULDER EXTENSION
Cast off 32[33:35:36:37:39] sts at beg of next 2 rows. Place rem 16 sts on to a 31/4mm knitting needle and release from machine. Using MC, work in K1, P1 rib for 12[12.5:13.5: 14.5:15.5:16]cm. Leave sts on a spare needle.
With wrong side facing and using a 31/4mm knitting needle, pick up sts from first row knitted in MC at lower edge of back, unravel WY. Work in K1, P1 rib for 8cm. Cast off in rib. Work front welt to correspond.
Work as given for welts picking up sts from lower edge of sleeves.
Sew right shoulder extension to back and front shoulders of garment. Sew left shoulder extension to front shoulder. With right side facing and using a 31/4mm knitting needle and MC, K the 16 sts held on spare N from left shoulder extension, 12[13:14:15:16:17] sts from
left side of front neck, 12[14:16: 18:20:22] sts from front neck, 12[13:14:15:16:17] sts from right side of front neck, 16 sts from spare N at right shoulder extension and 32[34:36:38:40: 42] sts from back neck. 100 [106:112:118:124:130] sts. Work 14 rows in K1, P1 rib. Cast off in rib.
TO MAKE UP
Sew left shoulder extension to left back shoulder. Sew sleeves in place, matching markers to side edge of body.
Join side and sleeve seams. Fold neckband to right side and catch down.
