Baby Granny Square Afghan

This crochet baby blanket pattern was designed by Lesley Pridgen

SIZE: 29" x 331⁄2".
MATERIALS: *Fuzzy chunky yarn — 11 oz. rose and 6 oz. multicolor; tapestry needle; G crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
GAUGE: Rnd 1 of Block = 2" across. Each Block is 41⁄2" square.
SKILL LEVEL: ★ Easy


BLOCK (make 42)
Rnd 1: With multicolor, ch 6, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 3, 15 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of ch-3, fasten off (16 dc).


Rnd 2: Join rose with sl st in first st, ch 6, dc in same st, dc in each of next 3 sts, *(dc, ch 3, dc) in next st, dc in each of next 3 sts; repeat from * around, join with sl st in 3rd ch of ch-6 (20 dc, 4 ch-3 sps).


Rnd 3: Ch 3, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp, dc in each st around with (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in each ch-3 sp, join with sl st in top of ch-3, fasten off (11 dc across each side between ch-2 sps).


Holding Blocks right sides together, matching sts, with rose, sc together through front lps in 6 rows of 7 Blocks each.

Working around entire outer edge, join multicolor with sl st in any corner ch-2 sp, ch 3, 11 dc in same sp, *[skip next 2 sts, sl st in next st, skip next 2 sts, 9 dc in next st, skip next 2 sts, sl st in next st, skip next st, 9 dc in next st, sl st in next seam, (skip next 2 sts, 9 dc in next st, skip next 2 sts, sl st in next st or in next seam) across to last Square, 9 dc in next st, skip next st, sl st in next st, skip next 2 sts, 9 dc in next st, skip next 2 sts, sl st in next st, skip next 2 sts], 12 dc in
next corner ch-2 sp; repeat from * 2 more times; repeat between [ ], join with sl st in top of ch-3, fasten off.
