Machine knitting free patterns
"Contract knitting"

There are not as many machine knitting free patterns as there once was. Do be aware of the copyright when selling anything you make from these patterns. Many designers do not want the item made up for sale.
It seems to me this craft is not as popular or should I say as promoted as it once was. After Brother stopped manufacturing their knitting machines it seems the popularity of this market slowed down. No doubt the price of a new one available today has a lot to do with this slow down. But for production work I can't imagine working without one. The price often stops many from buying a new one. But there are still plenty of used machines on ebay and such. This is how I started, with a used Brother. Most of the them that I have owned over the years have been used. I have only bought one brand new machine in all the years I have been knitting.
Used knitting machines
You can also find some good used machines at very reasonable prices on ebay, at flea markets, yard sales and live auctions in your area. Just make sure it is clean and not all black from dirty oil or rusted. If it is clean you will no doubt have a fine machine. If you are hoping to have a knitting business a machine is a must have for 99 % of these businesses. A machine is the only way you can do production knitting. (More on this later). Even knitting for the family, I would rather knit on the machine because it is some much quicker to complete a project.

Machine Knitting Yarns Also the yarns are not as easily available as they were back in the 1970s. But you can still get beautiful yarns for hand and machine knitting at Montgomery Mills Inc. in NY. I have been there many times and I just love this old mill. There is also a lot of history here. After we moved to Alabama I ordered my yarns from them. They are very nice and really helpful. Here is there address and phone numbers so you can reach them. Montgomery Mills Inc. 23 Factory St., Montgomery, NY (845) 457-9241, (845) 457-9242 fax
