KNITTING NOTES

•           2 (3) x 50g balls Wendy Elite Options (100% cotton) in Autumn Rust, Amber or Vanilla

•           Oddment of Double Knitting in Black for features

•           4mm knitting needles

•            Polyester toy filling

•           Pair of safety teddy bear eyes

•           30 cm ribbon

TENSION: 16 sts to 10 cm over g st on 4 mm needles

Teddy bear knitted toy patterns

BODY AND HEAD: Make 2 pieces alike

* Cast on 5 (7) sts for 1st side of base of body. K 18 rows without shaping. Inc one st at beg of next row and at end of foil row. Rep last 2 rows twice more. 11 (13) sts *.

Break yarn and leave these sts on a spare needle. Rep from * to * once for 2nd side.

K across sts on spare needle. 22 (26) sts. K 2 rows. Inc one st at each end of next row. K 1 row. Rep last 2 rows once more. 26 (30) sts. K 12 (20) rows.

Next row

K 11 (13) and leave these sts on a safety pin, cast off next 4 sts for armhole, K to end. 11 (13) sts. K 1 row. Dec one st at beg of next row. K 3 rows. Rep last 4 rows once more. 9 (11) sts. K 4 rows without shaping. Inc one st at beg of next row. K 1 row. Rep last 2 rows twice more. 12 (14) sts. Leave these sts on a spare needle.

Next row

Rejoin yarn to armhole edge of 11 (13) sts on safety pin, K to end. Dec one st at armhole edge on next row. K 3 rows without shaping. Rep last 4 rows once more. 9 (11) sts. K 4 rows. Inc one st at end of next row. K 1 row. Rep last 2 rows twice more. 12 (14) sts.

Next row

K 2 tog, K10 (12), K across sts on spare needle to last 2 sts, K 2 tog. 22 (26) sts. K I row. Dec one st at each end of next row. 20 (24) sts. K 1 row. Dec one st at each end and one st at centre of next row. 17 (21) sts. K 1 row. Rep last 2 rows once more. 14 (18) sts. K 2 rows. Inc one st at each end and one st at centre of next row. 17 (21) sts. Cast off.

LEGS: Make 2 alike

Cast on 16 (22) sts. K 8 rows.

Next row

[K2 tog] twice, K to last 4 sts, [K2 tog] twice. 12 (18) sts. K 11 row. Rep last 2 rows once more. 8 (14) sts. K 2 rows. Inc one st at each end and one st at centre of next row. 11 (17) sts. K 1 row. Rep last 2 rows 6 times more. 29 (35) sts. K 10 (16) rows.

Next row

K 5 and leave them on a safety pin, cast off next 3 sts, K to end. 21 (27) sts. Dec one st at end of next row. 20 (26) sts. K 3 rows. Dec one st at each end of next row. 18 (24) sts. K 1 row. K 5 and leave these 5 sts on a safety pin, cast off next 3 sts, K to end. 20 sts. Dec one st at end of next row. K 3 rows without shaping. Rep last 4 rows once. 18 sts. Dec one st at each end of next row. K 1 row. Rep last 2 rows twice more. 12 sts. Dec one st at each end of next 2 rows. Cast off rem 8 sts. Rejoin yarn to armhole edge of 5 sts on safety pin. EARS: Make 2 alike

Cast on 6 sts. K 1 row. Inc one st at each end of next row. K 1 row. Rep last 2 rows once (twice) more. 10 (12) sts. K6 (10) rows. Dec one st in centre of next 4 rows. Cast off rem 6 (8) sts.

TO MAKE UP

Join the 2 body and head pieces tog. Leave a small opening and fill with fiberfill. Stitch close.
