It is not always easy to earn money work at home and find outlets for your products. We as crafter usually prefer making our products, rather than having to work at selling them. It doesn't matter if you are knitting, croheting, sewing or working with wood. If we want to earn from our hobby we have to deal with the selling process also.

The consignment shop may be just the thing you are looking for. But first you much check them out, make sure they are the kind of shop you want your items displayed in. If not you will not earn money working at home you will destroy your reputation instead.

You sure don’t want to place your products in a store that looks more like a thrift shop.

A couple of things you should consider when picking a consignment shop

The shop needs to give a feel of an uptown boutique. It should not look like a second hand store for left over items.

After checking out the store, than it is time to make an appointment with the owner.

You will want to know the terms of the sales.

How long will they display your products?

How and where they display your items.

What percentage of the sale do they receive?

These are a few things among many that you will need to know when considering a consignment shop.

You must get everything in writing. No handshake, no matter how nice they seem. This is your business and you must treat it as one.

Now the shop will want to see some samples of your work. Also they will want an idea of how often you can replace a sold item.

They will need to know what you want as far as price for your times. So be prepared to answer these questions.

This should all be written in the agreement that you both sign. You must get everything in writing. No handshake, no matter how nice they seem. This is your business and you must treat it as one.

Make sure your items are covered by the shops insurance and the items ownership remains yours. Your products must be clearly described on the invoices.

Present quality items to the storeowner and keep your word if you say you will have more there at a certain date. Make sure you carry through with this. They need to know they can depend on you.

If your product is good and you do what you commit to, the owner will value you as a supplier and will give your products preferred shelf viewing. This is one way you can earn money work at home and get your products out to the public.
