Crochet patterns for baby blankets

"Easy baby quilt pattern"

Vintage crochet patterns for baby blankets are just as beautiful today as they ever were. This blanket comes from the book "Handbook of Wool Knitting and Crochet" 1918

Carriage Cover Afghan A pretty crochet baby blanket to made in pastels.

23 1/2 x 33 1/2
Materials Required--
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"DAWN" POMPADOUR YARN or
"DAWN" SHETLAND FLOSS
8 3/4-oz. Balls Baby Pastels.
5 3/4-oz. Balls White.
Bone Crochet Hook No. 3 or 4.



With Baby Pastels ch 103, pick up 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th st from hook leaving all loops on needle, yarn over and pull through all loops on needle, ch 1, this ch 1 is termed the eye of st, * pick up the eye of st just made, side loop of of star just made, next 2 sts of ch leaving all loops on needle, yarn over and pull through all loops on needle, ch 1 and repeat from * across row, ch 3, turn.

2nd Row--Pick up 2nd and 1st st of ch, side loop of star in previous row, eye of star in previous row, yarn over and pull through all loops on needle, ch 1, * pick up eye of star st just made, side loop of star just made, loop of star st in previous row, eye of star st in previous row, yarn over and pull through all loops on needle, ch 1 and repeat from * across row.

Repeat 2nd row until cover measures 26 inches or is length desired.

With White work 12 rows of sdc (sdc, yarn over and work off all loops at one time) around entire cover working 3 sdc in each corner to keep work flat, break yarn. Attach Baby Pastels, * skip 1 st, 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in next st, skip 1 st, sl st in next st, repeat from * all around working 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in corner st.

Next Row--*4 dc with ch 1 between in center of shell, sc in sl st of previous row, repeat from * all around working 1 dc with ch 1 between in each dc and 2 dc with ch 1 between in center of shell at corners.
