Free Booties Crochet Pattern

"Basic crochet stitches"

This booties crochet pattern is another example of a beautiful vintage pattern. It only uses basic crochet stitches and will be just as adorable today as it was years ago.

Drawstring Booties Crochet

From Star Book 1947 "The Baby Book"

Materials Required: 

3--100 yd. Fingering weight (baby yarn) Balls Blue or any Color desired. 

1 yd. 1/3 inch Ribbon. 

1 Steel Crochet Hook No. 6 or No. 7.

The entire slipper is worked with 2 strands of yarn. 

SOLES. With White, ch 24, work 2 s dc in 2nd st from hook (s dc: thread over needle, insert in st, pull through, thread over and work off all loops at one time), 2 s dc in next st of ch, 1 s dc in each of the next 19 sts of ch, 2 s dc in next st of ch, 3 s dc in last st of ch. Working on opposite side of ch, work 2 s dc in next st, 1 s dc in each of the next 19 sts, 2 s dc in next it, 1 s dc in same space with 1st 2 sts, join.

2nd Row. Ch 2, (counts as 1 s dc) s dc in same space, 2 s dc in each of the next 2 s dc, 1 s dc in each of the next 4 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 15 sts, 1 s dc in each of the next 2 sts, 2 s dc in each of the next 5 sts, 1 s dc in each of the next 2 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 15 sts, 1 s dc in each of the next 4 sts, 2 s dc in each remaining st, join.

3rd Row. Ch 3 (counts as 1 d c), d c in same space, 2 dc in each of the next 4 sts, 1 d c in next st, 1 s dc in each of the next 9 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 13 sts, · 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st, repeat from *, * 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * , 1 sc in each of the next 13 sts, 1 s dc in each of the next 9 sts, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in each
remaining st, join.

4th Row. Ch 3, dc in same space, 2 dc in each of the next 6 sts, 1 s dc in each of the next 29 sts, 2 s dc in each of the next 6 sts, 1 s dc in each of the next 29 sts, 2 dc in each remaining st, join.

5th Row. Ch 2, 1 s dc in each st, join.

6th Row. Ch 1, 1 sc in each st, join, break thread.

(The next 10 rounds are worked in s dc and in the back loop of st only.)

7th , 8th, 9th and 10th Rounds. 1 S dc in each st. (Do not join or turn rounds.)

11th Round. Fold slipper lengthwise and working over 20 sts for toe, * skip 1 st, s dc in next st, repeat from * 9 times, work remainder of round even.

12th Round. Over toe, * ch 1, skip 1 s dc, s dc in next s dc, repeat from * 4 times, work remainder of round even. 

13th Round. Over toe, * ch 1, skip the ch 1, 1 s d c in next s dc, repeat from * 4 times, work remainder of Row even. 

14th Round. Over toe, skip the ch 1, 1 s dc in each s dc, continue working round even to within the 8th st from center of toe.

15th Round. Ch 10, skip 15 toe sts, slip st in next st, ch 2 and continue all around ending Row with 1 s dc in each st of ch, join, ch 2.

16th Round. 1 s dc in each s d c, join.

17th Round. Beading, ch 3, skip 1 s dc, 1 s dc in next s dc, * ch 1, skip 1 s dc, 1 s dc in next s dc, repeat from* all around, join.

18th Round. 1 s dc in each s dc and over each ch 1, join.

19th Round. Shell, * ch 3, 2 dc in same space, skip 3 s dc, sc in next s dc, repeat from * all around, join, break thread. Lace Ribbon through beading and tie in bow.
