MATERIALS:

4-ply yarn*:

16 1/2 oz No 3204 crimson

12 ½ oz No 3216 grape

16 ½ oz No 3214 deep sea blue

8 oz No 3210 magenta

Crochet hook size G/6

Yarn needle

GAUGE

Square = 7 ¾ -8 inches; Rnds 1 and 2 = 3 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Shell (sh) st for squares is 3 dc in indicated st.

Amish quilt patterns to crochet

Rnd 1 (Right side): With crimson yarn, ch 5, join to form a ring, ch 3 (first dc), dc, ch 2, 2 dc in ring, ch 4, [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in ring, ch 4] 3 times, sl st to join in top of beg ch-3, fasten off.

Rnd 2 (Right side): Draw up a lp of deep sea blue yarn in any ch-2 sp, ch 3 (first dc), 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc in same ch-2 sp as beg ch-3, ch 3, [3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 3] 3 times, sl st to join in top of beg ch-3, fasten off

Rnd 3 (Right side): Draw up alp of magenta yarn in 2nd dc to the left of any corner ch-3 sp, ch 1, sc in same dc as beg ch-1, [ch 2, sk next dc, sc over next ch-3 spin ch-4 sp of Rnd 1, ch 2, sk next dc, sc in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc, sc, ch 3, sc in corner ch-3 sp, ch 1, sk 1 dc **, sc in next dc] rep around, ending at ** on last rep, sl st to join in beg sc.

Rnd 4 (Right side): Ch 1, sc in each sc and ch-1 sp, work 2 sc in each ch-2 sp and sc, ch 3, sc in each corner ch-3 sp, sl st to join in beg sc, fasten off.

Rnd 5 (Right side): Draw up a lp of grape yarn in first sc to the left of any corner ch-3 sp, ch 1, sc in same sc as beg ch-1, *[sk 1 sc, sh in next sc, sk 1 sc, sc in next sc] 3 times, work 5 dc in corner ch-3 sp **, sc in next sc *, rep from * to * around, ending at ** on last rep, sl st to join in beg sc, fasten off,

Rnd 6 (Right side): Draw up a lp of crimson in center dc of first sh to the left of any corner, ch 1, work sc in center dc of each sh and sh in each sc around, working at each corner, sk 1 dc, sc in next dc, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, sc in next dc, sl st to join in beg sc, fasten off.

Rnd 7 (Right side): Draw up a lp of deep sea blue yarn in center dc of first sh to the left of any corner, ch 1, sc in same dc, *[hdc in next dc, dc in next sc, hdc in next dc, sc in next dc] 3 times, hdc in next dc, dc in next sc, hdc in each of next 2 dc, sc, ch 3, sc in corner ch-2 sp, hdc in each of next 2 dc, dc in next sc, hdc in next dc **, sc in next dc, rep from * around, ending at ** on last rep, sl st to join in beg sc, fasten off, turn.

Rnd 8 (Wrong side): Draw up a lp of magenta yarn in 2nd sc to the left of any corner ch-3 sp, ch 1, sc in same sc, [ch 1, sk 1 st, sc in next st] rep around, working at each corner, ch 1, sk 1 sc, sc, ch 3, sc in corner ch-3 sp, ending with ch 1, sk last sc, sl st to join in beg sc, fasten off.

Rnd 9 (Right side): Draw up a lp of grape yarn in first ch-1 sp to the left of any corner ch-3 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, [ch 1, sk next sc, sc in next ch-1 sp] rep around, working at each corner, ch 1, sk 1 sc, sc, ch 3, sc in corner ch-3 sp, ending with ch 1, sk last sc, sl st to join in beg sc, fasten off.

Arrange squares 5 x 7. With yarn needle and length of grape yarn, with right side facing, working in back lps only, whipstitch squares tog in strips of 7 squares. Sew strips tog.

BORDER

Rnd 1 (Right side): Draw up a lp of grape yarn in any ch-1 sp near center of first square on long side edge, ch 1, sc in each ch-1 sp, each sc and each ch-3 sp on side edges, work hdc in each joining seam and sc, ch 3, sc in each corner ch-3 sp, sl st to join in beg sc, turn.

Rnd 2 (Wrong side): Ch 1, sc in next sc, [ch 1, sk 1 sc, sc in next sc or hdc] rep around, working at each corner, ch 1, sk 1 sc, sc, ch 3, sc in corner ch-3 sp, at end of rnd, ch 1, sk last sc, sl st to join in beg sc, turn.

Rnd 3 (Right side): Ch 1, sc in next ch-l sp, sc in each sc and ch-l sp around, working sc, ch 3, sc in each corner ch-3 sp, sl st to join in beg sc, fasten off.

Rnd 4 (Right side): Draw up a lp of crimson yarn in 20th sc to the left of any corner ch-3 sp, ch 1, sc in same sc, [sk 2 sc, shell of 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in next sc, sk 2 sc, sc in next sc] rep around, working at each corner, sk 1 sc, 3 dc, ch 3, 3 do in corner ch-3 sp, sk 1 sc, sc in next sc, join in beg sc, turn, sl st into ch-2 sp.

Rnd 5 (Wrong side): Ch 1, work sc in each ch-2 sp and 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in each sc around, working at corners, sk 1 dc, sc in next dc, sk 1 dc, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in corner ch-3 sp, sk 1 dc, sc in next dc,sk 1 dc,2 dc,ch 2, 2dc in next sc, join in beg sc, fasten off.

Rnd 6 (Right side): Draw up alp of deep sea blue yarn in any ch-2 sp on side edge, rep Rnd 5.

Rnd 7 (Wrong side): Draw up a lp of crimson yarn in any ch-2 sp on side edge, rep Rnd 5, do not fasten off, turn.

Rnd 8 (Right side): Rep Rnd 5, do not fasten off.
