Happy New Years Everyone,

I hope everyone had a fine year in 2008. Did you set any new resolutions? I don't usually because I very seldom carry through on them.

But this year I am going to set 3 goals for myself.

1 goal with be for 3 months

1 goal is for 6 months

1 goal is for 12 months

We will see if setting goals work better for me than resolutions.

Linda

Business:

Copyright Issues

Lets talk about using free patterns. I want to make sure everyone understands that just because a pattern is free does not mean you can sell the pattern or items made from that pattern. Even if you bought the pattern, there may be copyright restrictions with it.

The patterns I create are all copyrighted. You can not sell the pattern itself. But I do give permission for you to sell any items you make from these patterns.

For other patterns online always remember to check the copyright. If you did not create the pattern yourself you will need permission for the owner to make items to sell from it. Often you will find a note on the pattern stating whether you can use it for sales or not. If the pattern does not say for personal use only and you still can't decide that it is best to email the creator and get permission.

I am not an attorney, this is just advice not to sell patterns you did not create. Nor sell items from patterns without permission of the pattern creator.

From the readers:

Hello,

I'm almost 50 and have been crocheting since high school. I knit a little too, but crocheting is my first love.

Back in the late 70's I received a gift of a small (fits in your hand) crocheted puppy. The puppy was flat (no legs)....and looked like it had been done in the loop stitch. It had felt ears and wiggle eyes. Does anyone know how to make this adorable puppy? My original is long gone! (Look at answer)

Also, I'm making a baby blanket. Does anyone know how I can appliqué (using crochet) a duck to attach to the blanket?

Thank you so much!
