Doll clothes knitting patterns

These doll clothes knitting patterns is a fashionable outfit and was de­signed for an 11 1/2-inch teen-age doll and consists of a knit jacket and skirt. The accessories, blouse, hat and purse, are worked in crochet. You will need 1 ounce of 3-ply fingering yarn, 1 ball num­ber 8 pearl cotton, one pair each size 1 double pointed knitting needles and standard knitting needles and a size 6 crochet hook.

Abbreviations:

k (knit)     sc (single crochet)

p (purl)     ch (chain)

st (stitch)  1p (loop)

tog (together)   sk (skip)

dec (decrease)    dc (double crochet)

inc (increase)      rnd (round)

sl st (slip stitch)

Seed or Moss Pattern Stitch—Row 1: * K 1, p 1, repeat from * across.

Row 2: * P 1, k 1, repeat from * across.

Repeat these 2 rows for pattern.

Jacket—Starting at hemline, cast on 48 sts with number 1 standard knitting needles.

Work in pattern st until piece measures 3 inches from hemline.

Right Front—Work in pattern st across 12 sts, turn. Place remaining 36 sts on stitch %older. Continue in pattern st on 12 sts until piece measures 11/2 inches from armhole edge, ending at armhole edge.

Bind off 8 sts for shoulder. Place remaining 4 sts on holder for collar.

Left Front—Work as for right front, reversing shapings.

Back—Slip remaining 24 sts from holder to needle. Bind off 1 st at beginning of each of next 2 rows (22 sts).

Continue in pattern st until piece measures same as front.

At beginning of each of net 2 rows, bind off 8 sts (6 sts remaining on needle). Sew shoulder seams.

Collar—Slip 4 sts from holder of left front onto needle, 6 sts for back onto needle and 4 sts from holder of right front onto needle (14 sts).

Work 6 rows in pattern st. Bind off.

Sleeves (Make 2)—Pick up 24 sts at armhole. Divide on three double pointed needles, join, being careful not to twist sts.

Work next 2 rows in pattern st.

Next Row: Dec 1 st at center underarm. Continue in pattern st and dec 1 st at center underarm every third row until 12 sts remain.

Work 2 rows wifhont dec. Bind off.

Trim collar with small artificial flower if desired.

Skirt—Starting at hemline, cast on 44 sts. Divide sts among 3 double pointed needles, join, being careful not to twist sts. Place marker to indicate beginning of rnds and slip marker after completion of each rnd.

Work in pattern st until piece measures 2 inches from hemline.

Dec Rnd: Continue in pattern st, work across 9 sts, k 2 tog, place marker, work across next 22 sts, place marker, (these two markers indicate side seams of skirt), k 2 tog, work to end of row, place third marker to indicate back open­ing of skirt.

Next Rnd: Continuing in pattern st, work next 2 rnds even.

Dec Rnd: Work across 8 sts, k 2 tog, work next 22 sts, k 2 tog, work to end of rnd.

Work next 2 rows even.

Continuing in pattern st, continue to dec 1 st before and after each side seam marker every third rnd until 30 sts remain and at the same time keeping in mind when piece measures 31/4 inches from hemline, start back opening as follows: work in pattern st to third marker, turn and work in rows until piece meas­ures 33/4 inches from hemline. Bind off, leaving yarn attached for waist­band.

With number 6 crochet hook, * sc down left back opening, ch 1, turn, continue sc up side opening, ch 1 around waist, ch 1 down right side opening, ch 1, repeat from * once. Fasten off. Sew snap at wastband.

Blouse: Start at waistline; work with double thread and-number 6 steel crochet hook, elf 33, sc in second st from hook, sc in each re­maining ch st (32 sc). Ch 1, turn.

Row 1: * Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn. Repeat from * 4 times.

Row 6: This is an inc row. (To make an inc, work 2 sc in 1 sc). Sc in each of next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 14 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 8 sc (34 sc). Ch 1, turn.

Row 7: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.

Row 8: 8 sc, an inc, 5 sc, an inc, 4 sc, an inc, 5 sc, an inc, 8 sc, ch 1, turn.

Row 9: 8 sc, sc inc, (6 sc, an inc) 3 times, 8 sc, ch 1, turn.

Row 10: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (42 sts).

Row 11: (8 sc, an inc) twice, 6 sc, (an inc, 8 sc) twice, ch 1, turn.

Row 12: (8 sc, an inc) twice, 1 sc, an inc, 6 sc, an inc, 1 sc, (an inc, 8 sc) twice, ch 1, turn.

Row 13: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (52 sts).

Row 14: (8 sc, an inc) twice, (1 sc, an inc) 3 times, 4 sc, (an inc, 1 sc) 3 times, (an inc, 8 Sc) twice, (62 sts).

Row 15: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.

Row 16: This is first dec row. (To make a dec, pull up 1p through each of next 2 sts, thread over and pull through all 3 1ps at once). Make 30 sc, a dec, 30 sc, ch 1, turn (61 sts).

Row 17: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.

Row 18:. 17 sc, (a dec, 1 sc) 4 times, pull a 1p up through each of next 3 sc, thread over and pull through all sts on hook, (1 sc, a dec) 4 times, 17 sc. Fasten off one strand of thread only and continue working with single strand. Ch 5, turn.

Row 19: * Sk 1 sc, sc in next sc, ch 5, repeat from * across, end with ch 3, dc in last sc, ch 5, turn.

Row 20: * Sc in next ch 5 1p, ch 5, repeat from * across ending with ch 3, dc in last 1p, ch 5, turn.

Left Back-Row 21: Sc in next 1p, ch 5, sc in next 1p, ch 3, de in next 1p, ch 5, turn.

Row 22: Sc in next 1p, ch 5, de in next 1p, ch 5, turn, sc in next 1p. Fasten off.

Right Back: Join thread in first 1p of right back, ch 5, sc in next 1p, ch 5, sc in next 1p, ch 3, dc in next 1p, ch 5, turn.

Next Row: Sc in next 1p, ch 3, dc in next 1p, ch 3, dc in next 1p, ch 5, turn, sc in next 1p. Fasten off.

Front: Leave 2 free 1ps from last 1p on left back, join thread in next 1p. * Ch 5, sc in next 1p, repeat from * 10 times, end with ch 3, dc in next 1p. Ch 5, turn.

Next Row: * Sc in next 1p, ch 5, sc in next 1p, repeat from * 8 times, end with ch 3, dc in next 1p. Ch 5, turn.

Next Row: * Sc in next ch 5 1p, ch 5, sc in next 1p, repeat from * 6 times, end with ch 3, de in next 1p. Ch 5, turn.

Next Row: Sc in next ch 5 1p, ch 3, dc in next 1p, ch 3, sc in center ch 1p of left back, ch 3, sc in next 1p of left front (this joining forms the shoulder strap). Fasten off. Join thread to first 1p of right front at armhole edge and work as for left front. Fasten off. Join thread to right side of back edge, ch 1, * 20 sc down back edge, ch 1, turn, repeat from * once. Join thread to left side of back edge and work as for right side.

Blouse Flounce: Continue working with single strand of thread, join to first sc of right back at waistline. Ch 5, * sc in next sc, ch 5, repeat from * across, end with ch 3, dc in last sc. Ch 5, turn.

Next Row: Sc in next 1p, * ch 5, sc in next 1p, repeat from * across, end with ch 3, dc in last 1p, ch 5, turn. Repeat this last row 2 times. Fasten off. Sew on 4 small snaps at back edge.

Purse: Working with double thread, ch 24, sl st in first ch, being care­ful not to twist chain.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch, sl st in top of ch 1, ch 1, turn. Repeat rnd 1 eleven times. Ch 1, holding work flat, sc through both edges to form bottom of purse. Fasten off.

Handle: Join thread to edge at open side, ch 20, sl st at opposite side of opening, ch 1, turn, sc in each ch across, sl st in last ch. Fasten off.

Hat: Working with double thread, ch 35, sl st in first ch st. Ch 1, turn.

Rnd 1: Sc in each ch around, sl st in top of ch 1, ch 1, turn. Repeat this rnd 4 times, now fasten off one strand of thread and continue working with single thread, ch 5, turn.

Rnd 6: Sc in next sc, * ch 5, sc in next sc, repeat from * across end­ing with ch 3, de in last sc of rnd (37 1ps).

Rnd 7: Ch 5, * sc in next 1p, ch 5, repeat from * across, ending with ch 3, de in next 1p.

Rnd 8: Repeat rnd 7 twice. Fasten off. Starch rim of hat and trim with a small flower.
